A couple of years ago, researchers at the RAND Corp. released a study that found heavy exposure to sexual content on television shows relates strongly to teenagers’ initiation of intercourse or their progression to more advanced sexual activities.To some, those results seemed so reasonable because, well, aren’t they so obvious? But there are always those who won’t accept the obvious, even when it’s presented for them on a scientifically documented silver tray. After more than 20 years on the air, the city’s only country music station, KZLA-FM, abruptly left the air Thursday and was seamlessly replaced with the rhythmic pop of “Movin’ 93.9,” which plays artists such as Beyonce, Janet Jackson Janet Jackson and Jennifer Lopez Jennifer Lopez.KZLA’s sudden and unannounced demise leaves America’s two most populous cities, Los Angeles and New York, without country music stations.In Los Angeles, longtime country fans and station employees wondered at the logic of ending country radio in their city, which ranks in the top two for country album sales and where concerts for big-name country artists repeatedly sell out. British rock star Pete Doherty was told he could spend time in jail, after he pleaded guilty to five counts of possessing drugs including heroin and crack cocaine.The babyfaced Babyshambles front man  romantically linked to supermodel Kate Moss  was arrested in April just hours after being sentenced to a two-year community order for previous drug offences.During an appearance in an east London court Friday, Doherty, 27, was told by judge Alison Rose that all sentencing options were open  including “most definitely … the possibility of custody”.Sentencing was adjourned to September 4.

Classical music fans are getting their own version of MTV Mozart television.All 22 of Mozart’s staged works are being videorecorded by the Salzburg Festival in Austria for broadcast and commercial release on DVD.Twenty-one of the operas are being recorded at this summer’s festival, when all 22 works are being presented as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth. “La Clemenza di Tito” is from a 2003 recording that included singers from this year’s staging. MTV said on Thursdaythat it has greenlighted a third season of “Run’s House” and afifth season of “Pimp My Ride.”The network has ordered eight episodes of “Run’s House”that will begin taping in September. The show features Rev Run(Joey Simmons) of Run DMC as he balances running a successfulfootwear company while raising five children, ages 9-23 — plusanother one on the way.Meanwhile, “Pimp My Ride’s” fifth season will include 16episodes.
